5 Master Editing Shots

1. Simultaneously

This shot shows simultaneism between both shots since the first shot is of Maddie and Mikayla doing on their phones and not doing any work, while at the exact same time Karly and Mason were both working hard to get a good grade on their tests.

2. Leit Motif:

This shot displays a Leit Motif shot because in each shot there is someone throwing a paper ball. We attempted to add music in the background of each shot but we really struggled with it and the video as a whole ended up being muted. But we still thought this shot may have still represented this type of edit since we were doing the same thing 3 times. We might have been able to think of something better for this shot.

3. Contrast:

This scene we displayed contrasting scenes. Maddie and I were jumping around and partying in the first scene and showing us having a good time. Then it cuts to me throwing up in the bathroom and Maddie holding my hair as I am throwing up. The third shot cuts back to us having a fun time partying and then the last one is me throwing up again and Maddie passed out on the bathroom floor. We thought this showed good contrast since it goes from us having a really good time and then later that night being sick from having too much fun.

4. Parallelism:

This shot portrays parallelism. Parallelism matches certain elements from each scene. In the first picture I was laying down on the couches in the main entrance of our school. Then it zoomed slowly into my arm and zoomed back out and I was on the couches of the middle school entrance. We thought this scene displayed parallelism because we matched both scenes together since I was laying down in both.

5. Symbolism

This shot of Maddie unlocking her locker and me and Mikayla telling a secret portrayed symbolism. Symbolism is using an object to represent something in the next scene. The lock was used as us unlocking secrets. I think this was a good way to show symbolism because it perfectly represents the situation. All secrets have been unlocked and that is what this scene shows.

4 shots from 2 different groups :

 Jake Ackerman’s Group:
1. Double: Shows Jake and Jason clearly shooting the paper ball.
2. Cut away: Shows Jake then right away making his shot into the trash creating competition between the boys.
3. Extreme Close up: Shows Jake very mad at the camera that’s Jason is trying to challenge him to a competition.
4. Over the shoulder: Shows Jason making the shot from a different point of view than the ones before. Adds variety.

Emily Morande’s Group:
1. Over the shoulder: Shows Ethan walking to his locker trying to open it as if someone was walking behind him.
2. Single / Close up: This is of Ethan once he opens his locker as if the camera was just sitting in the locker showing him gather his things from up close.
3. High Shot: Showing from above Ethan washing up after getting “murked”. This was a creative angle.
4. Extreme close up: Zooms in directly on his eye after getting beat up. Showing that he is hurt and intensifies the injury.
10 camera angels from my video :

1. Establishing Shot: This was to show that we were starting off the video in the weight room letting the audience know that we would be working out during this video. It established location for our video.

2. High Angle: This shot shows from above that Mikayla is tying her shoe. It give the viewers a clear view of her getting ready to work out.

3. Medium Close Up: This was of me telling Mikayla to tie her hair before we start working out. This shot was used so you could clearly see me then moving to Mikayla tying her hair

4. Wide Shot: We used this shot to clearly show the location where Sam was running since there was a location switch to the gym.

5. Medium Shot: This Shot was used to show me doing sit-ups. It showed my full body on what I was doing.

6. Full Shot: This Shot was used to show Sam’s full body on how to do lunges. If we weren’t to include her full body then you might not have been able to tell what she was doing.

7. Close Up: This Shot was used mainly to add humor to me doing “pushups”. If the shot wasn’t close up like this I would’ve just looked even more dumb from far away.

8.Single : We used this Shot to show just Mikayla doing “weights” with the Yeti.

9. Low Angle: This Shot was used to show the angle of Mikayla squatting. This makes the top of the frame seem taller than normal

10. Medium Full: This shot showed Sam doing a wall sit. It clearly showed her whole body and her sitting into the wall sit. If her whole body wasn’t clear ,you may not be able to tell what she is doing.
